The Federal Government has launched the Irrigate Nigeria Project under the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Development Fund (RHIDF) to enhance food security through modern irrigation.
Speaking in Gamawa, Bauchi State, on behalf of President Bola Tinubu, Foreign Affairs Minister Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar emphasized the project’s role in ensuring year-round farming, increasing food production, and strengthening Nigeria’s agricultural sector. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to food security and economic empowerment.
Tuggar also condemned land grabbing, warning that strict legal measures would be enforced to protect land rights. He called for collaboration among stakeholders to drive agricultural innovation and sustainability.
On behalf of the President, he officially launched the initiative, which is expected to reduce food imports and secure Nigeria’s agricultural future.
Amb Tuggar also used the occasion to distribute bags of rice, motorcycles and environmental friendly cooking stoves to mitigate tree felling in Bauchi State.
