In a renewed effort to revitalise Nigeria’s agricultural sector and stimulate inclusive economic growth, the Federal Government has entered into a strategic partnership with Propcom+, a UK Aid-funded programme focused on climate-resilient, market-driven agricultural development.
This commitment was reinforced in Abuja when the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, received a delegation from Propcom+, led by the programme’s Political Director and Team Leader, Dr. Adiya Ode.
Minister Edun reaffirmed the administration’s resolve to position agriculture as a key driver of Nigeria’s economic transformation. He noted that the government is pursuing coordinated interventions—alongside the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, the African Development Bank, and other stakeholders—to deliver subsidised inputs, improve access to finance, and support smallholder farmers throughout the year.
Emphasising the importance of efficiency and transparency, the Minister highlighted ongoing reforms such as biometric systems for direct benefit transfers and initiatives to connect farmers to viable markets, ensuring that public investments translate into measurable gains for communities across the country.
The Propcom+ team expressed strong support for Nigeria’s agricultural reform agenda and pledged continued technical and strategic assistance, particularly in regions affected by climate change and conflict.
This partnership reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to building a more resilient agricultural sector—one that delivers food security, generates employment, and contributes meaningfully to national economic growth. Under the leadership of Minister Wale Edun, the collaboration is expected to accelerate impactful reforms and unlock long-term benefits for millions of Nigerians.
