C & I Leasing Plc (C&I Leasing), foremost leasing and ancillary services conglomerate on Tuesday November 19th, 2019, joined the rest of the world to celebrate the International Men’s Day.
To mark the celebration, the management of the company said it was hosting a series of week-long activities to reward the hardworking men of C&I Leasing across Nigeria.
The activities would include a special prayer session, a mini conference, a health fair, a fashion/dress up competition and a novelty football match between staff in the company.
Giving his opening remarks at the mini conference on Tuesday, Andrew Otike-Odibi, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer C&I Leasing said that the company continually seeks to inspire, motivate and provide an experience sharing platform on issues surrounding all men including sons, brothers, fathers, uncles and grandfathers.
He urged the men to “lead by example, learn to listen more and walk their talk by determination and discipline.”
“As men here I’d like us to remember that it is not what we say that people pick up, but it is what we do, and how we live our lives, and how we work,” he said.
Experts speak on retirement planning and self-reinvention
Mr. Nelson Nweke, Managing Director at Neilville Nigeria Ltd. and life fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) was a special guest of honor and spoke on the topic of retirement as it concerns those just starting their career and others nearing the “finish line”.
He tasked the men of C&I Leasing to be forthright with “planning, self-development, and financial discipline” regardless of their age, experience or position as this will set them up for success.
“Retirement can be a thing of joy. If you lack financial discipline, you will end up retiring poor. As a man, you should not wait till everything is perfect before you start planning your retirement,” he said.
Mr. Nweke concluded by saying that the men C&I Leasing should invest in viable business across sectors such as “agriculture, consultancy services, training, hospitality business and even the hair-dressing business.”
Also speaking at the conference, Mr. Adeniyi Aromolaran, Founder/Group Chief Development Officer of The Nehemiah Place, gave a presentation on the need for men to re-invent themselves. This he said, is a key factor to long life and prosperity.
Mr. Aromolaran said that a man willing to make an impact in the lives of others must be willing to follow a critical path to achieve his purpose, learn to dream big and to set out plans to achieve his dreams.
“You did not invent yourself and you cannot re-invent what you cannot create rather you are to find out why you were created, what you were created for, what are the things you are meant to do, who are the people to help you on your journey, and how much time you have to accomplish it,” he said.
Mr. Aromolaran, who is a Certified International Finance Corporation/Learning and Performance Institute (LPI) Trainer, concluded his speech by re-emphasizing the need for men to rediscover and “recover” their self.
During the conference which held in C&I Leasing’s Port Harcourt office, Mr. Adebisi Olowu, Manager, Training & Maritime Centre of Excellence (MCOE) at NLNG Ship Management Limited (NSML) spoke on self-reinvention while Mr. Collins Edebiri, Chief Executive Officer at Vital Solutions spoke on retirement planning. Mr. Chigbo Uchendu, Head of Maintenance at C&I Leasing gave a presentation to the crew at Bonny, Rivers state. Staff in Abuja, Benin, Enugu and Calabar did not miss out as they connected remotely to the Port Harcourt office while those in the mainland connected with the head office.
