The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has been observing with keen interest the ordeals of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in the hands of members of the cabal in the Presidency and the ruling All Progressives Congress as being reported in the media.
We make bold to say that irrespective of what Osinbajo may be going through in the hands of his traducers, opposition parties will not rally round him to save his head.
We will rather fold our hands and watch events as they unfold even if those behind his ongoing travails should commence impeachment moves against him. The support of Opposition lawmakers in the Nigeria Parliament will not be offered to Osibanjo.
The reason for the position we are taking on this matter is not far-fetched. When the going was good, Osinbajo used his privileged position as the Vice President of the country to debase the nation’s electoral process by being in the forefront of those sharing what they call Tradermoni which we still see as vote-buying, thereby disgracing governance.
We have also noted the statement credited to Osinbajo that he is ready to waive his constitutional immunity to clear his name in some of the allegations levelled against him lately.
We are placing it on record that opposition parties are willing to offer free legal services to Timi Frank, Katch Ononuju, media houses and activists in case Osibanjo makes good his petty threat to sue them because we see his threat as an attempt to silence them.
Instead of grandstanding as he is currently doing, the CUPP is advising Osinbajo to confess all the wrong doings of the Muhammadu Buhari regime which he took active part in and apologise to Nigeria and Nigerians.
It is only when he does this that he can get the support of opposition political parties and indeed the support of Nigerians.
