The Arewa Consultative Youth Movement (ACYM) has commended the Honourable Minister of State for Defense, Dr. Bello Matawalle MON., for coming to the defence of the President Bola Tinubu administration, stating that his response to the Northern Elders Forum was an exemplary display of loyalty and passion for the administration and its success.
Kabir Yusuf, the president of the group, further commended the Honourable Minister for his level-headed response to critics, including the Special Adviser to the President on Political Affairs, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed.
“In the face of needless and unwarranted provocation, Dr. Matawalle demonstrated the utmost professionalism and grace, setting a commendable example for leaders across all levels of government. Rather than descending to the level of his provocateur and engaging in a tit-for-tat exchange, he chose the high road by reemphasizing his earlier message.
“At a time when public discourse is often marred by incivility and polarization, Dr. Matawalle’s response serves as a reminder of the importance of dignity and respect in political discourse. By refusing to stoop to the level of personal attacks, he upheld the principles of statesmanship and integrity that are essential to effective governance.
“We believe that the Honourable Minister’s conduct reflects positively not only on himself but also on the institution he represents and the administration he serves. It reinforces the trust and confidence of the public in our democratic processes and institutions.
“As a political support group, we stand in solidarity with Dr. Bello Matawalle MON, and pledge our continued support for his efforts to serve the interests of the Northern region and the entire country. We urge others in positions of leadership to emulate his example and conduct themselves with the same level of maturity and decorum.”
“In the same vein, we condemn Hakeem Baba-Ahmed for his disrespectful comments and public display of lack of shame. It is indeed true that “home is where the heart is.” For the former spokesman of the NEF who is presently a Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters in the office of the vice president, his heart is still at home with NEF, and it is for this reason that we demand that the Vice President, Sen. Kashim Shettima GCON, sanctions Dr. Baba-Ahmed in a manner deserving of his unbridled outburst and disloyalty.”
ACYM concludes by calling on President Bola Tinubu’s appointees to emulate Dr. Matawalle by being more vocal about their achievements and also defending the government against its critics.
