The Tinubu Support Group, Enugu Chapter, has accused the Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, of working against the reelection bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by allegedly supporting Peter Obi, the NDC presidential candidate.
In a strongly worded statement, the group claimed that Governor Mbah had been under its watch for several months and alleged that he had not only provided financial and logistical support to Obi but had also held a series of political strategy meetings with him.
“Governor Peter Mbah has been having a series of political strategy meetings with Peter Obi. We can authoritatively confirm this,” the statement, signed by Chinaza Okoli, said.
“The latest in this series of meetings took place on Friday, 25th September, 2026, in Enugu. Peter Obi, who pretended to be in Enugu to attend the Nigerian Guild of Editors’ conference, was apparently in the state to meet with the Governor.
“After speaking uninvited at the conference, Mr. Obi proceeded with three of his media aides to the Enugu State Government House, where he held a meeting with Governor Mbah.
“Our sources claim that Peter Obi received support during that visit. In fact, the Prado Jeep he used while in Enugu State was provided by the Enugu State Government,” the group alleged.
The group further alleged that the September meeting was not an isolated encounter. According to the statement, Mbah had met with Obi in Lagos in August, following another meeting between the two several weeks earlier.
“None of those meetings was casual or accidental. They were meetings at which Governor Peter Mbah was reported to have offered him support. Interestingly, these meetings have been going on for some time now,” the group stated.
The group described the alleged meetings and support as incompatible with Mbah’s membership of the All Progressives Congress and called on the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) to immediately investigate what it described as his “anti-party activities.”
It further demanded that, should the allegations be established, Governor Mbah be expelled from the APC without delay.
“These allegations need to be quickly investigated. The elections are here already. We cannot have someone who is publicly telling the President that he is with him, while at the back is providing both logistical and financial support to the President’s rival.”
