APC Labels Canadian Court Reports ‘Mischievous’

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has categorically denied recent media reports that a Canadian court declared the party a terrorist organization. The party described the reports as “patently erroneous, if not mischievous.”

In a press statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the APC clarified that the report stemmed from a judicial review case involving a Nigerian citizen, Douglas Egharevba, and the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness in Canada. The case centered on Egharevba’s inadmissibility to Canada under its immigration laws.

According to the statement, the Canadian Immigration Appeal Division (IAD) determined that Egharevba was inadmissible because he was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which was found to have “engaged in subversive acts committed against the electoral process for the improper purpose of maintaining political power.”

Morka emphasized that the court’s decision, dated June 17, 2025, made no such determination about the APC. “The only reference to APC in the entire 16-paged decision was in the introductory ‘Background,’ Paragraph 4,” Morka stated. In that section, the court noted Egharevba’s claim that he was a member of the APC from 2007, a statement the party described as “evidently false” since the APC was not registered until 2013.

The APC official further highlighted a key part of the court’s ruling, where the judge explicitly stated they did not need to analyze the terrorism claim. “Having found that the IAD’s analysis on subversion was reasonable, this is sufficient to dismiss the application for review. I will therefore refrain from analyzing the IAD’s findings on terrorism,” the judge’s words read.

Morka concluded by urging party members, supporters, and all Nigerians to disregard the false and misleading reports
