Don’t Remind Nigerians of PDP’s 16 Wasted Years – BMO Tells Secondus

Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Uche Secondus has been advised to think before he talks or comments on the polity if he wants to be taken serious by right thinking people.

Giving this advice in a press statement in Abuja, the Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) said the head of the main opposition party in the country should stop sounding like he just crept out of an ‘ogogoro’ joint.

The group, in a statement signed by its Chairman Niyi Akinsiju and Secretary Cassidy Madueke, said Secondus’ comment on President Muhammadu Buhari’s handling of economy and security in the country made no sense.

“We like to believe that in his sober moments, in his right mind, Secondus knows that the rot left by his party’s 16-year misrule is the root cause of all the problems the country is battling with at this time.

“In fact, the emergence of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 saved the country from total collapse, considering the ravaging attacks of the Boko Haram terrorists in the North East, Abuja and other parts of the country. On assumption of office, the president was able to stop their rampaging activities in the country.

“Also, failure of the past PDP administrations to diversify the economy led the country to an economic precipice resulting in hunger, unemployment and incessant industrial actions. Today,  even with the outbreak of the dreaded Covid19, Nigerians are not in lack as the federal government’s agricultural policies are already yielding results.

“It is on record that some African countries sought the assistance of Nigeria in the supply of food to their people. It is obvious that the resilience of the Nigerian economy during the Covid19 era is based on the solid foundation that the Buhari administration started laying on the assumption of office”.

The group said that the “numerous achievements being recorded by the Buhari administration can be attributed to the President’s sincerity of purpose, running a government that is intolerant of corruption,  and a leadership focussed on delivering democracy dividends to the people.

“This is unlike the PDP mindset where huge sums of money were expended on frivolities or ended in private pockets. For instance, in 2011 our earnings were more than 11 trillion naira, and between 2011 and 2014 we earned more than 30 trillion naira due to the high price of oil and increased production of crude. This was exclusive of 10trillion naira that the PDP secured from foreign and domestic lenders.

“We, therefore, challenge the PDP and its national chairman to show Nigerians evidence of a single project they started and completed in any part of the country with these humungous resources at their disposal”, the statement added.
