The members of the National Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC), have been told that the desire of the administration of President Bola Tinubu to deliver on the mandate of Nigerians in the revitalisation and transformation of the economy, tackling insecurity and job creation amidst many others must be seen as their individual and collective responsibility.
This call was contained in a statement by the North-South Progressive Alliance (NOSPA), in Abuja, ahead of the National Caucus meeting as well as the National Executive Committee meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC), scheduled to hold on the 10th and 11th of July, 2023.
In the statement signed by its National Coordinator, Alwan Hassan, the group, comprising of professionals drawn from various sectors within the northern and southern region of the country, called on the APC NEC to come up with resolutions that would ensure the smooth sail of the Tinubu administration in the delivery of its promises to the Nigerian people.
“The burden of leadership, especially one that seeks to design and apply a wholesale transformation to Nigeria is huge. The President is seeking an ambitious transformation of Nigeria. It takes capable hands, skilled individuals and committed citizens to deliver this, and until all hands are on deck, the job would only get tougher for Mr. President.
“It behoves on all stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress to commit themselves to doing all that is within their means to ensuring that the government succeeds.
“Even though we desire to see reforms that will take Nigeria to its ultimate destination, we do not expect that the journey ahead would be a ‘walk in the park,’ neither do we expect that all would be ‘sweet and rosy.’ It is thus our call to the stakeholders of this government, particularly the NEC of the APC to ensure that they commit to work for the Tinubu administration and do all that is necessary to support the government at hand.
“As the NEC enters into its meeting scheduled for Tuesday, 11th July 2023, we urge the leaders to think of the nation first and prepare for the journey ahead. We implore them to seek to build consensus for the interest of the nation and to come out stronger and firmer in their resolve for a nation that works for the Nigerian people,” the group noted.
“In achieving this, we expect the APC NEC to have top on its agenda, the issue of building a functional party that is capable of nurturing Nigeria into building institutions to support the reforms expected from the current administration. In this respect, we hope to see, as part of the outcome of the meeting, resolutions that commits to ensuring that processes and statutory mandates are constitutionally adhered to.
The North South Progressives Alliance want to use this opportunity to call on the Progressive Governors and the National Assembly to commit to work with President Tinubu in his quest for reforms that will take Nigeria to the desired destinations. This is crucial for a harmonious government that would achieve the kinds of results Nigerians would be pleased with,” the group stated.
