Do Not Blame Oshiomhole For The Sins Of Others, APC Stakeholders Caution Protesters

Concerned members of the All Progressives Congress have called out on some party members who protested against the APC Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomole, stating that the Party Chairman, was being blamed for the sins of the State Structure in Bayelsa State who were responsible for the presentation of its Deputy Governorship Candidate who the Supreme Court removed from office.

The Concerned members of the APC, during a Press Conference at the party secretariat, noted in their statement that the screening of Gubernatorial Candidates was the duty of a Screening Committee set up by the National Working Committee, but it was the State Structure and leadership of the party in the State that presented the Deputy Governorship candidate.

They explained that this is what took place in Bayelsa, and noted that Comrade Adams Oshiomhole had nothing to do with the failure at the State Party level to screen its Deputy Governorship candidates and present credible candidates to the party.

“Even those using the unfortunate incident of Bayelsa to justify their position against Comrade Adams Oshiomole miss the point. Anyone who understands the processes involved in screening gubernatorial candidates would know that the screening committee composed by the National Working Committee (NWC) does not screen Deputy Governorship Candidates.

“Rather, it is the State Structure and leadership of the party at the state level that presents the deputy governorship candidates to the party. Comrade Adams Oshiomole has nothing whatsoever to do with the failure at the State Party level to screen its Deputy Governorship candidates and present credible candidates to the party.” They stated.

They further stated that those calling for the removal of the Party Chairman did not even have a better replacement in mind, stating that blackmail and baseless accusations alone cannot be a reason to remove the party chairman.

“We call on those singing ‘Oshiomole must go’ to present the replacement they have in mind and let us review his character and compare his strength to that of the incumbent. Blackmail and baseless accusations alone cannot be the sole reason we all will join the bandwagon of an ill-thought out anti-Oshiomole campaign.”

The concerned APC members further called on the party to pass a vote of confidence on the Chairman and rally round him to address the challenges of the party.
